TV subtitles - watching and recording - FAQs

I have Sky TV and a video/DVD player.... what I would like to know is I wish to tape the subtitles from the TV onto my video when I am recording a programme, which decoder should I have?

I have Sky TV and I have an old video that records the subtitles. the one I have in another room doesn't have the subtitle recording facilities, I was told I have to get a subtitle decoder the normal programmes bbc itv and 4 and 5 cant be recorded with subtitles so please advise me. thank you.
